Welcome to a moment just for you — a chance to slow down, soften, and deeply rest. In our busy lives, it’s easy to carry tension and stress that keeps us from feeling fully present and peaceful. That’s why I created this 10-minute Yoga Nidra guided meditation: to help you drop into a space of calm and restoration anytime you need it.
What Is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra, often called “yogic sleep,” is a powerful practice of guided relaxation that helps quiet the mind and soothe the nervous system. Unlike regular meditation, you don’t need to sit up or focus intensely — you simply lie down and listen as you’re gently guided through a body scan, breath awareness, and visualization.
The beauty of Yoga Nidra is that it balances deep rest with conscious awareness, allowing your body and mind to rejuvenate fully without losing connection to yourself.
How to Use This 10-Minute Practice
Find a quiet, cozy space where you can lie down comfortably — a bed, yoga mat, or couch works perfectly. Use headphones for the best experience and consider dimming the lights or lighting a candle to create a soothing atmosphere.
As you listen, allow yourself to relax completely, knowing this time is yours to rest and reset. There’s no need to do anything “right” — just follow the guidance and be gentle with yourself.
Choosing Your Sankalpa: Your Personal Intention
A special part of Yoga Nidra is setting your Sankalpa, or personal intention. This is a simple, positive phrase that reflects something you wish for yourself — something you want to feel, become, or invite more of into your life.
Here’s how to choose your Sankalpa:
- Make it short and clear — a few words or a sentence.
- Phrase it in the present tense, as if it’s already true. For example:
- “I am calm and centered.”
- “I welcome peace into my heart.”
- “I trust myself completely.”
- Keep it positive — focus on what you want, not what you want to avoid.
- Choose something meaningful to you, that resonates deeply.
- Use your Sankalpa throughout the practice to gently root your mind and heart.
As you repeat your Sankalpa silently during Yoga Nidra, it helps shape your mindset and supports lasting transformation.
